Devon couple and quirky business owners, Nicky and Joel Buckly, are trying their luck on Dragons’ Den in hopes of getting one of the Dragons to invest in their innovative and ethical range of eco decorating tools.
The business is called Eco Union and the couple will be pitching their tools to the dragons on January 13th at 8 pm on BBC One.

What are Eco Union?
Eco Union is the couple’s relatively new ethical and affordable business. It is a B-corp certified business that provides biodegradable, compostable and recyclable Ecotrays.
The Ecotray is not only recyclable but it also requires no washing up. Something the couple discovered by accident during the production process.
Once the layer of paint dries in the tray you can simply pour fresh paint on top and get going again without any peels or flecks from the previous layer.
The Ecotray seems like any decorators dream, what normally is a tiresome process of cleaning – where many people would rather throw the tray away than clean it – has become much easier and better for the environment.
What other eco decorating tools do they make?
Originally starting with just one Ecotray coming at a standard size of 9 inches, they now have an entire range of trays ranging from 4 inches to 12.
They also sell other decorating products, including a handmade range of British brushes and pro paint brushes.
Other decorating tools on their website include rollers, decorating tape and dust sheets. Once again, all of these products are sustainable and safe for the environment.

Tonia and Halem Jahshan pitched their business idea to the dragons in 2012 and ended up closing a deal with dragon Jim Trelving and David Chilton. They invested $250,000 in return for 20% equity.
According to Chilton in 2014 the company was anticipating $12 million in sales compared to a mere $1.2 million when they pitched to the dragons.
This is arguably one of the best Dragons’ Den success stories of all time. The two candy connaisseurs, ChrisEmery and Larry Finnson came up with their business ideas, OMG’s – a graham cracker filled with chocolate, hazelnuts and toffee.
Dragon, Arlene Dickinson invested $250,000 into OMG’s for 50% equity.
Although Emery won’t reveal his companies profits or annual sales, their first year of business after investing brought in over $2 million and over 1500 bags of OMG’s are produced every hour.
- Holy C**p
Even though no dragons actually invested into this business, the couple, Brian and Corin Mullins have become the most successful pair of Dragons Den with their vegan cereal having grown into a multi-million dollar company.
Although no dragons were brought in, after the show aired the companies sales shot through the roof. Sales on products went from 100 units per month to over 2000 uniter per day.
