On the January 6th 2022 episode of Dragon’s Den, viewers can watch new Dragon Steven Bartlett make his very first investment on the show so far. The business in question? cheesegeek.
Steven was impressed by the online modern cheesemonger, whose mission is “to break down all the barriers people encounter when they try and get into proper cheese.”
Here is everything we know about cheesegeek, including how you can get your hands on one of their scrumptious subscription boxes…
How to buy cheesegeek subscription boxes
The cheesegeek website describes their subscription boxes as their “absolute specialty” and explains that they are the only company in the UK to provide tailored subscriptions to each customer individually.
There are several different types of subscription boxes, with the rolling subscription option being named “The Jimi.” This will cost you £30 each month, and subscribers will benefit from cheesegeek’s no-repeat guarantee, meaning that you will not get the same cheese twice in a 12 month period (unless you select ‘Vegetarian only.’)
cheesegeek also offers free next delivery to UK mainland on subscriptions as long as you order before 9am.
There are four different types of gift subscription boxes available: 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months.
The 3 month gift subscription will cost you £90.
The 6 month gift subscription will cost you £177.
The 9 month gift subscription will cost you £261.
The 12 month gift subscription will cost you £342.
If you are looking for a one-off box, then cheesegeek has you covered. They offer a range of cheese boxes, from classic ones containing just cheese or cheese and crackers, to boxes pairing the cheese with gin, beer, coffee, wine, or charcuterie.
cheesegeek founder impresses on Dragon’s Den
cheesegeek has become the very first business to gain investment from Steven Bartlett, the Den’s newest, and also youngest, Dragon. Steven offered to invest £150,000 and now has a 5% share in the business.
Edward Hancock, founder of cheesegeek said: “We honestly couldn’t be more thrilled to have Steven on board at cheesegeek, and are incredibly proud to be his first-ever investment on the Den.”
He continued on to explain that Steven was their “number one choice” due to his “incredible expertise within marketing and digital brand building.” Edward said: “He is also a perfect fit for us culturally.”
cheesegeek was founded by Edward, a Judge at the International Cheese Awards, Judge at the Artisan Cheese Awards, and Member of the Academy of Cheese, in 2017 after he decided to leave the Fund Management world for “the far less corporate but far more exciting and stinky world of cheese.”
