David Attenborough at the premiere of Blue Planet II.

What is the documentary about?

David Attenborough explores the tale of the Victorian elephant phenomenon, ‘Jumbo’.

Jumbo was captured in the 19th century from Sudan. He was then toured around Europe and then America.

He was supposedly the largest elephant to have ever lived. He was almost four metres tall when he died.

Jumbo the celebrity icon

The name Jumbo may sound familiar, as another famous elephant took inspiration from his name…

Yes, that’s right! Jumbo was the inspiration for Disney’s Dumbo.

Jumbo was also bought by P.T. Barnum (A.K.A. Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman) who exhibited him in America in 1882.

Where can I watch the documentary?
