Viewers have been left wondering why MasterChef judge John Torode isn’t on the show, as Series 13 of The Professionals aired on Monday 10th.
In the hunt for the next superstar chef, over 30 skilled chefs are put to the ultimate test in heats, before judges decide if they make it to the next round.
With 16 chosen ones in the final week of the competition, judges will watch and taste the baker’s cooking skills. So why is John Torode not among them?
Why is John Torode not on MasterChef: The Professionals?

While John Torode is a judge on the usual MasterChef series, he is never there to taste and watch the chefs on The Professionals version.
While it hasn’t been addressed exactly why John never takes part in The Professionals, the majority of fans believe that it’s because professional chefs are attempting to cook to Michelin star standard.
Whereas in the original series, amateur cooks – who are not considered professional – are seen competing for the MasterChef title.
Despite having professional cooking experience, John doesn’t have a Michelin star and is better known for being a celebrity chef.

Who are the judges on The Professionals?
Marcus Wareing, chef patron at the one-Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus, in Knightsbridge, co-judges the show.
Alongside him is Monica Galetti, who worked at two-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Gavroche – which is owned by former MasterChef judge Michel Roux Jr – and now co-owns restaurant Mere.
Chef Gregg Wallace is also there to taste the contestant’s dishes, who has decades of experience in the food industry.
This has flagged questions from fans to wonder why he is on the show while John Torode isn’t, however this hasn’t been addressed by the BBC.

What is John Torode doing now?
Despite not appearing in the current series, John has hinted that MasterChef will be back soon on his Instagram.
He recently celebrated his 1-year wedding anniversary with wife Lisa Faulkner, who he regularly demonstrates cooking recipes with.
John is also a regular chef seen on ITV’s This Morning.
