Will there be a series 8?
The BBC has yet to officially announce whether they have recommissioned Father Brown for an eighth series.
However, as Father Brown has strong ratings at home it would seem logical for BBC to continue its run.
And it is not just in Britain where the series is popular, as it has been broadcast all over the world and has a deal with America’s PBS which sees it reach more than 100 million homes in primetime.
So sorry to see series 7 of Father Brown come to an end. Really, really hoping there will be a series 8. Well done to all involved. Superb.

Series 8 confirmed
Although the BBC have not confirmed, John Burton has!
The actor, who plays Sargeant Goodfellow, announced on Twitter that he would be returning to Kembleford – the fictional village in Father Brown.
I can’t believe that a week tomorrow, I’m back pounding the beat in Kembleford. I hope my boss has mellowed a little, but I doubt it – it is Inspector Mallory after all. In the meantime, here’s a little reminder of what’s to come 😊 pic.twitter.com/ZGDn8jE2TC

Father Brown series 8: Start date
It will probably air at its regular start date in January.
The past two seasons have been made up of ten 45-minute episodes, so we would expect similar for series 8.
So that means hours of more mystery solving with Father Brown and the rest of the cast!

- Who is the Earth From Space narrator?
- Did making Our Planet convince David Attenborough to give up meat?
Where can I watch Father Brown?
Fortunately for UK watchers, both series 6 and 7 are available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
But all series are also available to purchase through Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Google Play.
