Is Don’t Be Tardy for the Party cancelled? The Bravo series returned for season 8 recently, but let’s explore the current situation.
Needless to say, 2020 has been one giant mess and we’ve all welcomed distractions.
Of course, the go-to for many is TV and, fortunately enough, it’s actually been a rather fantastic year for it. Well, taking the current circumstances into account anyway.
We all have different shows we like to tune into to help pass the time, but plenty of audiences would argue that nothing fills the hours quite like reality TV.
There are so many favourites, from Keeping Up WIth the Kardashians to Love Island.
However, some are certainly partial to Don’t Be Tardy, which centres on 42-year-old Kim Zolciak, her husband – Kroy Biermann – and their family.
The series began back in April 2012 and has now returned for its eighth season.
But, is it cancelled?
Is Don’t Be Tardy for the Party cancelled?
- No, Don’t Be Tardy for the Party is not cancelled. However, fans have a reason to suspect that the show’s future is in jeopardy.
The Sharell’s World channel on YouTube boasts a whopping 256K subscribers and they recently dropped a video which features a discussion regarding Don’t Be Tardy.
Her guest introduced the trouble plaguing the show, expressing: “Don’t Be Tardy for the Party has had the worst ratings premiere of any Bravo show this year.”
You can check the conversation out in the below video.
Over on TV Deets, the ratings are addressed and it’s noted that it debuted with a .16 and 585,000 viewers. They also add that, for contrast, season 7 premiered to a .46 and 1,213,000 viewers.
So, it’s a rather significant drop in viewership.
Petition to cancel Don’t Be Tardy
While it’s arguable that declining viewership will put a great deal of pressure on Bravo to consider cancellation of Don’t Be Tardy, there’s something else potentially threatening the show’s future too.
There is actually a petition on Change.org titled ‘Bravo TV cancel Don’t Be Tardy for the Party. No more Kim Zolciak Biermann!’
The description reads: “We no longer want Kim Zolciak Biermann to profit from her television show based on her ignorant racial comments, lies and destructive behavior towards women of color in general. Bravo TV should step up and cut all ties with Kim Zolciak Biermann and everything she stands for.”
It has currently gained over 3,800 signatures.
Kim Zolciak-Biermann controversy
Back in 2018, many took aim at Kim for her comments about racism which featured on Real Housewives of Atlanta.
As noted by EOnline, she apologised: “During the last RHOA Reunion episode, I made a comment that confused and offended people. I sincerely apologize. Edited out of context, I understand why my remark angered people.”
“Racism is a sad reality in the United States. It has been prevalent throughout our country’s history. Let me be very clear, I do not support, tolerate or put up with any form of racism, hate or other discrimination. My love for all people runs deep—I am open to all and always have been.”
Nevertheless, some take issue with Kim’s show airing, hence the petition. It’s likely that such comments have influenced season 8 viewership too.
