Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams became engaged to Simon Goubadia in May of 2021, just one month after they reportedly got together. The engagement will make Williams wife number 4, but who was his first wife?
This will be William’s second marriage, though she has a child with ex-fiance Dennis McKinley. Guobadia, a businessman in Atlanta, also has five children he’ll be bringing into the marriage.
The whirlwind engagement came as quite a surprise to fans of the show, as Simon was still married to William’s RHOA co-star Falynn Pina in January.
The life of Porsha and Simon
Simon and Porsha met over the summer of 2020, during season 13 of Real Housewives of Atlanta, before an on-screen pool party. Porsha was introduced to Simon and then-wife Falynn at a restaurant Simon owned (now closed) because Simon knew the father of Porsha’s 2-year-old.
Sparks apparently flew, but despite some fans calling Williams a homewrecker, the official story is that Simon and Falynn’s marriage was already crumbling and their divorce had nothing to do with Williams. In the first episode of RHOA spinoff Porsha’s Family Matters, Simon even reveals that their relationship only began when Porsha DM’d him on Instagram after the divorce, to see if he was okay.
In May of 2021, Porsha reveals on Instagram that she’s engaged to Simon Guobadia, and confirms that they had only been dating a month.
In July, Falynn announces that her divorce to Guobadia was final, and within months she, too, had moved on.
Now, Guobadia and Williams share their lives on Porsha’s Family Matters, which premiered in November of 2021.
Who is Simon Guobadia’s first wife?
Despite the happy couple’s progress in their relationship, fans were quick to note that this isn’t Simon’s first or even second marriage. In fact, Porsha will be his fourth wife.
Guobadia’s first marriage was to Karron English and lasted 20 years. They had two kids together, Quentin and Nicole, though Guobadia is reportedly estranged from eldest daughter Nicole.
Not much else is known about Guobadia’s life with his first wife, it’s not a topic he regularly shares about. However, he does frequently discuss his journey of becoming a better father to his children on his social media and seems to have a good relationship with his son Quentin.
Where is Karron English now?
Simon’s first wife Karron English is now a Professor of Fashion at the Art Institute Atlanta and has been teaching the subject for over 14 years. She graduated from the Academy of Art University with her MFA in fashion/apparel design and merchandising in 2015, after completing her BA and Associates degrees in the subject.
Before her professorship, she owned her own design company, English Design Lab, and worked for Coca-Cola as an associate design manager.
She seems to keep a low profile but has made a great success for herself outside of the limelight.
