Eco Challenge, also known as “the world’s toughest race”, is a multi-day non-stop expedition adventure race, where teams of four battle for the number one position.
Created by Emmy-winning producer Mark Burnett, the TV show originally aired on cable TV from April 1995 to April 2002. Now, the adventure show returns to our screens through the streaming service Amazon Prime Video.
“World’s Toughest Race: Eco Challenge Fiji” is produced by Mark Burnett and Bear Grylls, from ‘Man vs Wild’, who co-hosts the show. The 10-episode-long series premiered on August 14, 202o and got older fans of the shows as well as a completely new generation completely hooked on the unique challenge.
Eco Challenge facts: entry fee, rules, dates, etc
Following the success of the newly revived series, the producers are already planning its next season: Eco Challenge Patagonia. And, of course, people have so many questions.
One of the main questions fans and possible future racers have is: how much is the entry fee? Well, from what Reality Titbit has been able to find out, and as quoted from the Santa Cruz Sentinel, the entry fee is $5,000 per team.
Show dates have not been released yet, as the website states that: “Whilst we continue to stay abreast of the global health situation, we’re reserving two potential time periods for the Patagonia race: one in late February/early March 2021, the other in November 2021.” Seems like there is plenty of time to prepare.
Other rules include that all team member must be 18 or over, the team of four has to have at least one member of each gender, the group must nominate a team captain, certifications such as First Aid are mandatory and all technology is strictly prohibited (phones, GPS,e etc) unless told otherwise.
