Who are Jon Boogz and Lil Buck? Meet the Netflix stars from Move!

Netflix has released the brand new series Move – let’s meet the stars from episode one, Jon Boogz and Lil Buck.

Over the last few years, Netflix has brought a number of really good documentaries. Whether these are about climate change or true-crime series, the streaming giant has something different for every fan.

On October 23rd, a brand new series dropped on Netflix called Move. The documentary follows different choreographers and dancers from around the world.

Episode one features Jon Boogz and Lil Buck. Here’s everything you need to know about the Netflix stars.

Who is Jon Boogz?

Jon Boogz is a dancer, choreographer, director and actor.

On his website, Jon reveals that he was motivated to “dance by the work of Michael Jacksons” and has created choreographies for a number of famous artists.

He choreographed for Mikhail Baryshnikov, Naomi Campbell, Gloria Estefan, as well for Pharrell’s Adidas Originals campaign in 2019.

Jon wrote, choreographed, directed and danced in Color of Reality, a short film in collaboration with visual artist Alexa Meade.  

This project won Great Big Story’s Art as Impact Award, Best Experimental at Toronto International Short Film Festival and Concept Video of the Year from World of Dance.

Pretty impressive. And now Jon is starring in a Netflix series which surely will open more opportunities for the creative star.

Who is Lil Buck?

Lil Buck, whose name is Charles Riley, was born in Chicago. The 32-year-old artist and his family moved to South Memphis when he was 5.

Buck specialises in a street dance style known as jookin.

He discovered his passion for dancing at the age of 12 and decided to follow his dreams professionally at New Ballet Ensemble where he studied ballet.

He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19 to pursue a career as a dancer and gained national fame after his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2010.

In 2011, Buck gained further popularity after he appeared with famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma in the ‘The Swan’ performance.

A year later, he danced with Madonna during her Super Bowl XLVI halftime show.

Even before the release of Move, Jon and Buck were already pretty popular on Instagram.

Jon has nearly 100k followers, while Buck has amassed 156k fans on his profile. We’re sure this number is set to rise after their appearances on the Netflix series.
