Shane Ritchie: Career

In 1998, Shane kicked off his acting career in film Dead Clean as Nicos Malmatakis. He has appeared in or voiced characters for films, such as Sid in Flushed Away, but his career successes have been largely in the TV and stage performance fields.

Shane is best-known for playing Alfie Moon in Eastenders. He joined the soap in 2002 and dipped in and out of the show until 2019.

The actor is also a star of the stage and has appeared in productions of Robin Hood, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Grease and more.

He also launched a music career alongside his other work in 1997. Shane released a second album in 200 and then in 2017 he released a country album – A Country Soul.

What’s Shane’s net worth?

Prior to settling into life inside a castle on I’m A Celebrity, Shane explained to The Mirror that he was “skint”. Of course, any celebrity going onto the show is usually out to make some cash, but Shane reportedly was really struggling before partaking in the show.

As reported by The Mirror, he said: “I was going on tour, doing a TV series and panto but it all got cancelled in March. Now I am literally skint! You save for a rainy day but you don’t expect the rainy day to last eight months. Thankfully, I’ve been able to borrow money from mates, my family and the bank.

It may come as a surprise to some that Shane’s strapped for cash as the actor has had a successful career on screen and stage. During his time playing Alfie Moon, Shane was reportedly earning £230,000 a year, however, things are clearly different for the star now. The pandemic has surely had an impact on Shane’s earnings as pantomimes aren’t operational at the moment.

A 2020 report from The Express states that Shane’s net worth is approximately £3.7 million. By the looks of things, Shane has earned a lot in his career but has also been spending, too. Speaking to Plymouth Live, he said: “Because I didn’t have a TV set as a child until I was ten, I put a TV in every room. I blew thousands on the strangest things, in particular Planet Of the Apes memorabilia.

It’s unconfirmed exactly how much Shane will earn from I’m A Celebrity, but other contestants such as Vernon Kay will get £250,000 for taking part in the ITV show. According to Heart, Beverley Callard is set to earn £125,000 and Jessica Plummer will get £75,000.
