The final of SAS: Who Dares Wins gave us three winners in Mark, Lou and Milo.

Milo finished the competition as the second youngest recruit and inspired many people with his bullish grit and determination, despite faced with the most brutal of all mental interrogations.

Here is everything we know about Milo Mackin.

Who is Milo Mackin?

Milo is a 25-year-old water engineer from Plymouth.

In his spare time, he is a proud fitness and adventure enthusiast, with an Instagram full of sport-related pictures.

He snowboards, cycles, climbs, swims, surfboards and completes countless triathlons. For an underdog, he’s in pretty good nick!

Milo told Channel 4 of his experience:

It was the best and worst two weeks of my life. I have been physically challenged and mentally challenged before, but bringing the two together has been a totally different ball game, let alone the other factors such as the freezing climate, limited food, water and sleep.

Milo also has a girlfriend, 27-year-old conservation biologist Maddison.

As you may have expected, she’s pretty damn proud of her boyf at the moment!

Who is Milo’s Brother?

When Milo was brought into the interrogation room in episode 3, he opened up about why he wanted to join the series.

Milo explained that older brother Travis Mackin, a Royal Marine, was his hero and idol when growing up.

His brother was killed while on tour in Afghanistan in 2009, during Operation Herrick 9 in Kajaki. Travis was just 22 while Milo was 15 at the time.

In an excruciatingly painful time for the family, Milo’s older brother, Corbin, was also serving in Afghanistan at the time of the death.

Milo told Channel 4 about his motivation to succeed in the series:

My brother Corbin egged me on to sign up, because he knew it was a dream for me to join the Royal Marines growing up. Having been in the Army himself, he recognised qualities and potential in me to do well. Obviously, a huge part of it is to do with the passing of my eldest brother Travis.  I have always felt the need to fill that empty hole with achievement, and I wanted to make him proud.

Milo regularly pays tribute to his brother on Instagram.

This post read:

Being a younger brother is a blessing, you don’t need to look elsewhere for role models. I’ve had two right in front of me since I was born. This is Travis, the eldest, who sadly was killed in Afghanistan Operation Herrick 9 in Kajaki. I learnt everything I could have learnt in 15 years growing up beside him I have been heartbroken for the last 10 years that we cannot simply just chat or have a beer together like I always wanted or even just to say thanks for always being there for me.

More on Travis Mackin

Travis served with the 45 Commando Royal Marines as a rifleman in Zulu Company. Zulu Company was involved in some of the fiercest fightings in Afghanistan.

On Travis’ return to the U.K, he was selected for specialist training and joined the Signals Branch of the Royal Marines. He was noted for his strong performance on the communicators’ course and qualified as a Royal Marines Communicator, Class 3.

He was known as a popular and confident marine who established himself as a veteran of his operational theatre as a very youthful age.

Travis’ death happened while actor Ross Kemp was filming his Afghanistan TV series for Sky One. Ross attended the memorial service.
