Everything you need to know about Tamworth Enterprise College - academy seen in The Great British School Swap!

Channel 4 is known for the radical social experiments they bring to our TV screens and we can expect nothing less from brand new series The Great British School Swap.

The show will explore racial segregation and prejudice in Britain by swapping pupils from very different schools in segregated areas.

But which schools are taking part in this experiment?

Here’s everything you need to know about one of the swapping schools, Tamworth Enterprise College.

Where is Tamworth Enterprise College?

The co-educational secondary school for pupils aged eleven to sixteen is based in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Yet the school is part of a larger institution, the Academies Enterprise Trust which sponsors 62 schools nationwide.

In their ethos, they state that:

Every young person deserves the opportunity to have a life that can be described as ‘good quality’, free from fear and danger, where they can give and receive respect to and from others with a sense of well-being, belonging, worth and achievement.

So why is the school participating?

At Tamworth Enterprise College, 95% of the student body is white British.

Despite only being 15 miles from the more multicultural Birmingham, this Staffordshire school has remained very racially segregated.

But it was after headmaster Simon Turney discovered two 14-year-old pupils had attended a far-right march for the Football Lads Alliance with their parents that he decided to put forward Tamworth Enterprise College.

Already, a clip showing the indoctrinated ideas and stereotypes of each culture has amassed 1.5 million views.

What did Simon Turney have to say?

Simon believes in a more integrated and less prejudiced Britain, which he believes can be achieved through education.

Simon Turney said:

Now is not the time to be building fences, now is the time to be knocking them down.

And The Great British School Swap will certainly get everyone talking and it has already been debated on Loose Women!
