Meet architect Katerina Dionysopoulou: Ugly House to Lovely House 2020!

Channel 4’s Ugly House to Lovely House sees architects transform a bland home into a beautiful place to live. Helping George Clarke to do just that in 2020 will be Katerina Dionysopoulou, as seen in episode 2.

While George visits homes across the UK in the 4th series of the home renovation show, he gets help from other skilled experts along the way.

While the 1st episode saw Greg Blee showcase his architectural knowledge, the newest episode saw architect Katerina Dionysopoulou put her own take on a home project. So who is she? Here’s everything you need to know!

Meet Katerina Dionysopoulou

Katerina is the founder of Bureau De Change Design Office Ltd, which she has been running for 8 years.

The Bartlett graduate was formerly a project leader at design company Heatherwick Studio for 5 years, after 3 years of being an architect at planning firm Foster and Partners.

During this time she led the team designing the UK Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, winning the Lubetkin Prize. She later worked alongside Danny Boyle as the project leader for the iconic Olympic Cauldron for London 2012. 

Now, she is had her debut on Ugly House to Lovely House and teaches UG4 at the Bartlett School of Architecture, alongside Billy Mavropoulos.

It is Katerina’s first time appearing on the Channel 4 series, appearing with her Bureau De Change co-founder Billy Mavropoulous.

Known for their dramatic sculptural work, George enlists the architect duo to transform a Streatham home by adding a poured-concrete extension.

The main worry during the second episode bids the question of whether their efforts to turn Matt and Kevin’s 1930s home into a beautiful place could stretch their budget too far.

As per information on Bureau De Change, Katerina and Billy’s work is a “direct product of the founders’ upbringing, passions and experiences”.
