Bake Off: The Professionals returned to our screens last night (Tuesday, April 30th) and saw a whole host of new pastry chefs competing for the win.

But fans of the hit Channel 4 baking show were astounded by the contestant Sam and how he’d managed to overcome the obstacle of deafness with partner Adam.

Read on to find out more about the inspirational pastry chef…

Who is Sam?

Sam Widnall is a young, ambitious pastry chef who has not let his deafness stand in the way of his dreams.

Head pastry chef Adam gave him his first patisserie job working at the Palé Hall Hotel in Snowdonia, Wales.

And the two now will be competing together on this years’ professional Bake Off!

How did he manage on Bake Off?

Sam and Adam have a pretty effective working routine!

Adam explained to the judges, Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden, that they work through “texting, typing and writing stuff down”.

But Sam was also provided with a sign language interpreter, Claire, who could bridge the communication gap between him and the judges.

Does Sam have Instagram?

Sadly, Sam does not have any social media pages.

But you can follow all new information about the Palé Hall Hotel team by following his teammate Adam on Insta @adam_cleal.
