Where is the restaurant?

The two Michelin star restaurant Dawn and Richard visit is called Funky Gourmet.

It is in the heart of Athens, in the ancient Keramikos neighbourhood.

Check out the breakdown of their elaborate meal here!

How to book Funky Gourmet

As the restaurant is preparing to relocate to the Hilton Athens hotel in 2020, they will be providing a limited service throughout 2019.

Although they will still be open at their Keramikos location, they will only be providing Private Cheffing services or hosting Private Cheffing events.

To book either of these, there is a required minimum of 20 days notice so you’ll need to plan in advance!

How much does it cost?

As they are only serving private events throughout 2019, the price list is unavailable for the food.

The wine list does show it to be very expensive, as the cheapest wine by the glass is around €10 and the most expensive sits at around €55!

However, in Travel Man, the cost of the Degustation menu with wine pairings is at a whopping £204.16 per person – a pretty expensive day out for Richard and Dawn!

Where else do Richard and Dawn go?

Their trip also includes a tasting of ouzo – the traditional Greek alcoholic spirit.

This takes them to Brettos, a bar in the Koukakai district of Athens which has been open since 1909.

And the pair also stop for a sweet treat, loukoumades – the Greek equivalent of a doughnut – at Lukumades on Agias Irinis Square.

Here they reinvent the ancient dish – dating back to 776 B.C. – with fun new flavours and toppings – delicious!
