What will happen during Japanese Week?

The signature challenge will ask bakers to make the Japanese version of Asian staple steamed buns.

Then, the technical round involves “a tricky recipe involving multiple layers”, according to the Radio Times.

The showstopper round is themed around kawaii, which symbolises Japan’s love of everything that is cute.

From the clip, it looks like Laura gets upset about her creation in episode 6, with Noel reassuring her by saying: “I don’t know why you’re so upset, I think that looks pretty neat.”

Which contestants are left for Japanese Week?

The competition is getting down to its halfway point, after saying goodbye to Linda in Tuesday’s episode (October 20th) and Laura getting star baker.

Those left on Bake Off for Japanese week are: Laura, Marc, Mark, Hermine, Lottie, Dave and Peter.

We will have to wait until Wednesday October 28th to find out who excels in Japanese Week and who we say goodbye to.

Fans react to upcoming Japanese Week

It looks like viewers are pretty excited about the new theme, especially as Bake Off haven’t ever asked the bakers to make Japanese food before.

One fan said: “Like I know it’s just gonna be dumplings and matcha flavouring but let me DREAM.”

Another wrote: “I will be taking an interest in bake off next week. Not sure the Japanese go in for baking much, be interesting to see what happens.”

A viewer shared her excitement: “I’m so excited for Japanese week on bake off next Tuesday! Excited to see how they all get on with Matcha and what different Japanese things they have them make.”
