Fans of SAS: Who Dares Wins were hit with what felt like a shocking suckerpunch as episode 2 pitted the recruits against one-other in a boxing match.
As with all seasons since the show launched in 2015, recruits are allowed to pick their boxing partner as they’re told to strike each other as hard as they can until a stoppage is called.
But when recruit number 21 stepped up, Louise Gabbittas, she called out recruit number 16. His name was Nathaniel and he easily looked twice her weight. It’s a decision that shocked many viewers on Twitter.

Who is Recruit Number 21?
SAS: Who Dares Wins 2019 recruit number 21 is Louise Gabbittas.
She is a 29-year-old midwife from St Ives, Cornwall.
Louise is also married and told Channel 4 producers that she wanted to join the show to tear up any misconceptions that a midwife may not be tough.
She said:
I pride myself on being physically fit and mentally resilient and so wanted to test it. Also, being a midwife, there is a preconception that you wouldn’t be up for anything so brutal. I like to surprise people with what I am capable of.

Louise prides herself on her fitness and her Instagram is full of gym and outdoor activity pics.
Clearly, she put in some serious training ahead of SAS: Who Dares Wins season 4 – including 100 press-ups at work while having a quick break from a manic midwife job!

SAS: Who Dares Wins – Boxing
In the brutal boxing round, Louise was the only recruit to pick out a member of the opposite sex.
Recruit number 13, Saranya, was the only female left in the line-up. But instead of picking her, Louise called out Nathaniel.
Although hesitant at first, Nathaniel was prompted by Ant Middleton with the phrase “the best form of defence here is attack” as the pair quickly traded merciless blows.

Louise bravely stood her ground with the pair both landing punches.
However, it was Nathaniel who struck the more pinpoint punches as the contest was eventually stopped with Louise’s face a bruised and bloody picture.

Why did Louise Pick Nathaniel?
In an exclusive interview with realitytitbit, Louise explained why she picked Nathaniel out of the other remaining recruits
She said:
There was only Saranya left (out of the women) and, to be honest, I felt like I could have beaten her. The show is about challenging yourself and I thought I would rather fight someone bigger and stronger. I knew I had a poor chance of winning.

But I learnt more about myself in that situation. So many of the male recruits were saying how they wouldn’t punch a woman before the boxing match, so I wanted to put someone in that situation. It’s their problem, not mine, and I wanted to help highlight the equality that the show is about.
Following the boxing, Nathaniel needed consoling from Lousie as he struggled to come to terms with the task he had just carried out.
Nevertheless, Louise told Nathaniel that it was nothing to worry about and the pair are still good friends, pictured on Instagram together here.
In the Instagram post, Louise said:
I would like to give a massive shout out to @nathanielshaw16 I know I put him in a difficult position, but in a society where we are begging for equality he stood tall and delivered. The task got completed and we moved on. When the competition involves two people one will inevitably lose. Next time I won’t pick someone with such massive shoulders.
