The Channel 4 series Devon and Cornwall highlights the livelihoods of those at the southwest tip of the UK, where the two counties meet.
Devon and Cornwall has returned for a third series following the success of the first two seasons.
The Channel 4 programme takes us through the lives of several businessmen and women living in Devon and Cornwall such as apple grower and cider-maker Tom Bray, siblings William and Harriet Allin who look after a flock of two sheep, and others.
We are guided through the educational docuseries by a certain voice, but who is the narrator behind it?
Reality Titbit has done some research and put a face to the voice heard through the screen!
Who is the narrator of Devon and Cornwall?
John Vivian Drummond Nettles is providing the voiceover for Devon and Cornwall. He grew up in Cornwall himself and now lives on a North Devon farm.
The 77-year-old Cornish actor and writer is best known for playing the lead roles in the television series Bergerac and Midsomer Murders.
He also played Dr. Ian Mackenzie in the British ITV drama A Family At War until 1972 and fraudster Giles Sutton in ITV’s Heartbeat.

Where else have we seen John Nettles?
John had his first screen role in the film One More Time.
That was before he went on to star in multiple TV programmes including The Liver Birds, Dickens of London, Robin of Sherwood and an episode of Enemy at the Door.
Viewers may also know John from his 1992 appearance in an episode of Boon, and in 1993 as Jim Bergerac in the police comedy The Detectives.

John Nettles: Family
John has been married to his wife Cathryn Sealey for nearly 26 years. They tied the knot back in July, 1995.
Cathryn is his second wife after having his daughter Emma Martins in 1970 with Joyce Nettles.
After they divorced in 1979, Joyce Nettles later became a casting director on 23 episodes of Midsomer Murders.
Has anyone else narrated the BBC series?
Yes, John Nettles hasn’t been the only narrator on Devon and Cornwall.
Before John, the Channel 4 series in 2019 was narrated by Jenny Coverack from Bristol. The executive producer of the series Andrew Sheldon admitted in April last year that the narration had not “hit the right tone”. Some viewers thought the voiceover was a fake accent.
The actor lists her accents as French, Irish, Italian, neutral, RP and Welsh.
