If you don’t know Kirstie Alley by name then you will know her by face.
She’s an Emmy Award-winning actress with a ton of films in her swag movie bag.
Now she has officially stepped foot into the Celebrity Big Brother house, we ask, who is Kristie Alley?
Kirstie Alley the Yo-Yo Dieter
It’s no secret that Kirstie Alley has ‘battled’ with her weight for many years.
Kirstie has openly talked about binge eating without gaining weight for many years although this all changed during menopause.
Over her career, she has lost and gained up to 22 kilograms at a time (3 stone) due to constant yo-yo dieting.
Kirstie Alley the Scientologist
Whether you love Scientology, hate Scientology or haven’t a clue what it is, Kirstie Alley has been heavily involved in the Church of Scientology for a long time.
Alley donated a whopping $5 million U.S dollars to the church in 2007.
And, when fellow actress Leah Remini left the Church of Scientology in 2013, Alley publicly denounced Remini as a “repulsive bigot”. Ouch!
Other Hollywood Scientologists include Tom Cruise, Priscilla Presley, John Travolta and Jennifer Aspen – none of which will, of course, be in the CBB house.
A Drug Dependency Past
Kirstie has previously admitted to having a cocaine addiction, where she asked the Church of Scientology to help end her dependency.
The Church of Scientology took Kirstie under their wing as she underwent their ‘Narconon’ program’.
Which, apparently, is a Scientology-affiliated drug treatment program.
Sounds, erm, great?
From University Drop Out to Hollywood Actress
After attending Wichita Southeast High School, graduating in 1969, Kirstie set her eyes on university. She attended college at Kansas State University but dropped out after her Sophomore year.
Kirstie packed her bags and headed to Los Angeles to work as an interior designer. However, it wasn’t until three years later when Kirstie landed her movie debut in 1982, playing the Vulcan Starfleet officer Lieutenant Saavik in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Kirstie Alley the Divorcee
Kirstie Alley has never been shy of love. She married her high school sweetheart Bob Alley in 1970 although they divorced several years later.
Kirstie later married second husband Parker Stevenson in 1983, where they had two children together; William and Lillie Price. Sadly, this marriage wasn’t set for eternal romance either, and they parted ways in 1997.
Kirstie Alley the Tough Cookie
Kirstie Alley has dealt with her fair share of tragedy and sadness.
One of Kirstie’s life tragedies was the loss of her mother. In 1981, a car accident involving a drunk driver caused the death of her mother, Lillian, and seriously injured her father, Robert Deal Alley.
