Celebs Go Dating season 5 finished in epic style.
Although ‘finding love’ was supposed to be the theme of the show, it really didn’t seem that way when Callum Izzard brought two dates along to the grand final in Crete.
The ITV2 Ibiza Weekender rep had both Nicole Paris and Amy Leigh Walker bidding for his love, as he made them compete on individual dates to decide which girl won the honour of being his final pick.
Callum chose Nicole. Amy had a little cry.
We caught up with Amy to find out what life on the Greek island of Crete was really like – did she know that Callum had strung her along? Was anything scripted? Did she at least get to stay for a holiday?
How Does Dating Work on Celebs Go Dating?
“Everything is done through the agency. There’s no contact between me or any of the celebs although me and Cal did exchange numbers and were texting on the sly.
The agency decides who you are going on a date with, then sets up when, where and all of that.
I actually went on a date with Sam (Craske) as well, but it was Callum where there was that romantic spark, and that’s why we ended up going on a few more dates.”
Is Anything Scripted?
“I wouldn’t say anything is scripted but you are asked to bring up certain things.
In my interview, before I joined Celebs Go Dating, they asked what my favourite sex position was.
They then told me to bring that up during my date with Cal. It’s all about making good TV.
There was also that moment on my first date where I did all sorts of ridiculous sex poses…
The producers asked if I was going to be comfortable doing it and sort of prodded me do it.
There’s no way I’d be doing that sort of stuff on a first date!”
Did you Know Callum Was Bringing Two Girls to Crete?
“No.
Honestly, Channel 4 did such a good job at keeping it a secret.
They actually fly out everyone on a Sunday, then me and Sam Craske were told to fly out on Monday. I was a little bit suscpicious at why they wanted to keep us separate but I didn’t think much of it.
When it came to that big moment (where Amy walked down the stairs to see Callum on a date with Nicole) I wasn’t told anything…
They literally just said walk down those stairs to see Callum. And there was Callum and this other girl.
What really annoyed me is that Callum and Nicole knew what was going on, so it was kind of a set up.”
Did You at Least Get to Stay for a Holiday?
“Literally, no!
To be honest, I could have stayed, but I didn’t want to be around everyone. I asked the producers if I could go home and they put me on a plane.
As holiday’s go, I’d probably rate it as a 2/10.
It was a phenomenal experience but horrendously awkward at the same time.”
