Episode six of First Dates was an emotional rollercoaster, with widower Nick bravely sharing a story that touched many.
The 62-year-old voice artist can portray any emotion he pleases through the rumbling tone of his voice, although there was nothing but genuine pain and sorrow when he explained how his former partner passed away.
Brace yourselves…
A Tribute to Bea
Having first shared a humorous anecdote on how he likes dubstep (no joke) Nick moved the conversation along to a heart-wrenching story on how he became a widow.
Explaining that his last relationship with a lady named Bea “moulded him” and “made him compete”, it was a tear-jerking moment when Nick revealed how the relationship ended.

Bea was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away not long after.
However, Nick did everything in his power to ensure her last memories were of love.
In fact, he made his impact immediately.

But, welling up during a piece to camera, Nick confessed that his fiancée did not make it to the wedding day.
There was an emotional tribute on social media.

To a New Beginning
Nick confessed that he had felt stronger over the past six months, with his confidence to step forward and appear on First Dates – a benchmark to how far he had come.
He shared the company of Laura – a golf enthusiast who ticked all the boxes on paper – but despite enjoying a glugging or two of red wine, the date failed to sparkle in a romantic way.
Nonetheless, it was a date that marked a new beginning for the pair.
