Episode two of First Dates introduced us to the uncontrollably awkward and anxious Freddie.
The 27-year-old charity worker was matched with 22-year-old fashion designer Rebecca, although nerves got the better of Fred as he failed to control a rather blabbering mouth.
Meet the man who shouted the word “condoms” at his date…
Stay Cool, Fred
Freddie confessed to the camera that he can be a little “different” and “awkward” in social situations, known to his friends as ‘too-far-Freddie’ for taking jokes too far.
So, when a rather quiet and shy Rebecca rocked up to the London restaurant, the charity worker found it increasingly difficult not to come across as a nervous wreck.
Yeah, maybe Rebecca didn’t notice…
Cheese ‘n’ Chalk
Freddie and Rebecca proved pure cheese ’n’ chalk over the course of their date, displaying a clear lack of chemistry and failing to bounce off one-other.
The nervous Fred attempted to ease conversation with a compliment, making a strangely objective comment on Rebecca’s hairclip.
Is this flirtatious?
Judging by Rebecca’s face, however, the whole hairclip compliment came across as bizarre.
Also creepy.
And maybe weird too.
Like, was Fred-star about to ask if he could have a little sniff of her hair?
Humour Levels
The First Dates couple were clearly failing to click. Even Freddie’s attempts at raising the issue backfired.
Grab a shovel mate, because this girl’s face is not painting a pretty picture…
Condoms!
The awkward humour levels were revved up a notch as Freddie talked about his latex allergy, and how he found out about his allergy while with an ex-girlfriend.
Mentioning ex’s on a date is a big no-no, but also throwing the word “condoms” into the conversation – how did you think this one was going to go, Fred-star?
Clearly, Rebecca found this ride a little too ribbed for pleasure…
Freddie later confessed to the camera that his date “didn’t see his best side” and that he wasn’t his “normal self” due to nerves.
At least it wasn’t broadcasted across the entire nation, eh.
