The contestants on Love Island are really dishing out some drama this year, from Michael moving on to newbie Joanna, the Danny/Yewande/Arabella love triangle and Curtis’ head being turned. But at least they’re doing it in style!
And one thing that has caught the attention of fans of the show is Michael Griffiths’ glasses.
Here’s where to get your hands on a pair just like Michael’s so your summer accessories can be sorted!
Does Michael wear glasses usually?
Michael has not worn glasses at any point on the show apart from during the odd evening or villa party, where he has got more ‘dressed up’ than usual.
That makes us think this is purely a stylistic choice rather than any medical need to wear them.
Although this once used to be considered a ‘geeky’ style, glasses have become massively trendy over the past few years. Twitter users are split right down the middle with some saying that “Michael with glasses is something else” and calling them his “pulling glasses”.
Others who aren’t so keen on the look call them his “Dumbledore glasses” and make comparisons between him and Lavender from the 1996 film Matilda.
Where are Michael’s glasses from?
It is unconfirmed where Michael’s exact glasses are from, but we’ve found a pretty near-perfect replica on Asos!
They are made by AJ Morgan and retail at just £15.00 a pair.
You can buy them here.
You can also check out the full range of Asos’s clear lens glasses here where they stock their own brand, as well as Ray Ban’s and Jeepers Peepers.
Michael’s not a fan of sunglasses
While he may be seen sporting a clear pair, fans have been quick to jump on the fact that Michael never wears sunglasses while in the villa.
One Twitter user asked “Has anyone seen Michael wearing sunglasses? Is it even possible?” referring to Michael’s tiny ears! Another questioned why he always opts for using his arm to block the sun, rather than a pair of sunnies.
What we do know is that Michael could pick up some of his fellow Islanders’ style and grab himself a pair.
