Is Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch fake? Sceptic audiences have voiced their thoughts on the Discovery Channel series on Reddit.

Yet another year of promising television has begun but some aren’t exactly convinced of the authenticity of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch.

The series premiered on Saturday, January 2nd 2021 and follows Duane Ollinger and his son Chad as they search for buried treasure.

Convinced of riches buried beneath the land, the family purchased a huge 160-acre Utah plot known as Blind Frog Ranch and swiftly got to work.

Blind Frog Ranch is a site of alleged paranormal activity and has stirred numerous urban legends and cautionary tales over the years, but the promise of fortune and glory has encouraged the Ollinger family to try their luck.

Since it aired, some have argued that it may be staged, but is Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch fake?

Is Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch fake?

Nevertheless, there is currently a Reddit thread in which people are arguing that the show is “set up”, with one writing: “Does anyone else think this show is… all set up? The nugget they pull and a Spanish coin they pull out of the same hole seems so fake…”

At the moment, there are over 100 comments on the thread.

As highlighted by Distractify, the titular Utah property does have a reputation for hosting valuable metals and for witnessing alleged paranormal occurrences.

Stories and tall tales vary, with some believing that Spanish conquistadors once discovered gold on the land, while another suggests that Mormons were allowed to take some of the gold to create coins. On the other hand, arguably the most fascinating is that some believe the land conceals a spaceship which was buried long ago.

Regardless of which story you choose to consider, some locals have declared their belief that the area is cursed, explaining that this is why Duane won’t find riches despite his best efforts.

Duane Ollinger talks Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch

The land was originally purchased by Duane’s father and the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch star recently spoke – via email – with Hollywood Soapbox about the series.

When asked if he was hesitant to make his efforts a series, he admitted:

“Very hesitant. I had just sold my home and business to travel with my family when this opportunity presented itself. I was always on board to help my dad, but I have seen a few reality shows and didn’t think it was for me. Then the way Discovery Channel presented it I decided it was worth the risk.”

As for what he believes he’ll find, he said: “I believe the legends of buried treasure that I have heard from the locals. It’s either gold from the Aztecs or Spaniards. The data I have seen from the satellite scans just confirms that gold is radiating from the caverns…”

Asked about the concept of them discovering nothing at all, he added: “Since we are putting so much time and energy into this project, it would definitely be a letdown to not find treasure.”
