Flip or Flop's Spanish revival house sold, but not for Tarek's listing price

Since 2013, Christina Haack and her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa have been transforming run-down houses in dream homes on their HGTV show Flip or Flop. The duo even continued working together on the show despite divorcing and they still flip houses together to this day.

It’s pretty much a given that the pair have had huge success in flipping houses over the years but there are some properties that Tarek and Christina have worked their magic on that have made them more money than others. Flip or Flop’s Spanish revival house

In a 2020 episode of Flip or Flop, ‘Far Out Flip’, Tarek and Christina head to North Hollywood, California to take on a renovation project that could potentially make them thousands of dollars in profit.

Before the renovations had begun, Christina commented on the lengthy drive she had to get to the property but Tarek remarked that it “could be worth it“.

When they took on the house, which was built in 1935, it had three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms and sprawled across 1773 square feet.

How did they revive the Spanish-themed house?

Tarek and Christina had a huge task on their hands working out what features of the house to leave and which parts to a jeep as Christina said “it has huge character“.

A fireplace, a guesthouse and some unique bathrooms layouts all posed challenges for the house flipping couple.

Christina said: “I’m really excited about design here but it’s not going to be cheap. This isn’t your typical Orange County 50’s or 60’s house flip, this is a classic Spanish revival.

Did the Flip or Flop Spanish revival house sell?

Tarek and Christina bought the Spanish revival house for $950,000. They worked out that they’d need to spend $100,000 on renovating the house and the guest house was priced up at $50,000.

They needed to make $1.2m to break even and listed the house for $1.65m.

According to Realtor.com, the house, which is located at 11583 Otsego St, Valley Village, CA 91601, sold for $1.5m.
