Exclusive interview with Seema Malhotra: From Dubai drama to managing menopause on RHOCH

The Real Housewives of Cheshire is the go-to destination on ITVBe for glitz, glamour and an inevitable dose of drama.

But with the season drawing to a close on Monday, May 27th, we thought it was time to reflect over what has been one of the best seasons to date.

And who better to reflect with than one of the Real Housewives themselves!

In an exclusive interview with Reality Titbit, RHOCH star Seema Malhotra discusses the gossip from season 9 and what she has in store for 2019.

We’re all loving the girls trip to Dubai, was that also your highlight of the season?

“It most definitely was.

We laughed so much – there is nothing like a girls trip!”

But did the situation with Perla and Dawn cause a strain on your trip?

“No, it didn’t cause me stress – it was very simple for me.

This is not my story to tell. If Perla wants Dawn to know that is her prerogative to speak about it.

I don’t take things to heart. Life’s too short.”

This season you have opened up about the struggles you’ve faced with the menopause and how you have been dealing with it. How was it showing this journey on air and why did you decide to share this?

“I really wanted to open up about the menopause as I had not really spoken about it before. I did not realise how it can affect you as a person. Literally waking up one day feeling so low, tired, emotional, anxious, low concentration and brain fog – it is a shock to the system.

I am now taking HRT, after trying alternatives and I am slowly feeling normal again.

It was important for me to share this journey as this is something that is real and is happening to me. Women need to speak about this and not be ashamed.”

Have women reached out to you after opening up on the show?

“Yes, so many women have thanked me.

It’s important to speak out and tell your story. I suffered for a year not realising what I was going through. You need to go to the doctors and ask for a blood test and seek help.

I have learnt so much from talking to other women too. There is such a taboo about the menopause which needs to stop.”

Turning to your business, Forever Unique… How do you juggle being on the show with running a fashion line?

“It is very hard at times, so lots of delegation.

I am lucky that I have great support from my husband, sons and my amazing Forever Unique team. Plus, Monkey Kingdom [RHOCH production company] have been very supportive and understanding of the fact that I also run a business.”

What exciting things are in store for the label? Can you share with us any inspirations or designs you are taking into the new season?

“For the first time, we are launching a 30-piece plus size collection for AW19 and we have our new AW19 collection coming soon…

You actually get a sneak peek on the RHOCH this season!”

And are there any more girls trips with the Real Housewives planned for the summer?

“Not at the moment, but hopefully soon!”

Catch the final episode of The Real Housewives of Cheshire on ITVBe on Monday, May 27th at 10 pm and don’t miss the RHOCH reunion the following evening, Tuesday 28th May!
