Anyone who has watched new ITV show Winning Combination may be wondering where they’ve seen the host before.
Following the success of ITV’s hit daytime quiz show The Chase, Winning Combination is here to get the nation thinking!
Taking part in a series of fast-paced general knowledge rounds, the show’s contestants should be prepared to think on their feet, as well as take the presenter’s banter.
What is Winning Combination?
Winning Combination is a brand new gameshow to ITV in 2020. The daytime TV series kicked off from Monday, November 16th at 3 pm and is set to air on weekdays.
The aim of the game is to end up a part of the ‘Winning Combination‘.
The show sees nine contestants randomly assigned a number between one and nine. They then have to compete against each other by answering a series of general knowledge questions.

Everything from dog breed expertise to food knowledge is covered on the show. If they make it to the final, four players are in with the chance of winning the four-digit jackpot which is made up of their assigned numbers.
That not where the rules end, though. Each player’s number is also the number of questions they must answer correctly under time pressure!

Who is Omid Djalili?
Viewers of Winning Combination may recognise Omid Djalili and they’d be right to do so as he’s been on TV screens for years.
Omid was born September 30th, 1965 in Chelsea, London. The stand-up comedian can be found on Instagram @omiddjalili with over 17,000 followers. He has a further 290,000 on Twitter.
He’s married and has three children with wife Annabel Knight. Annabel can take some credit for her husband’s comedy career as she’s listed as a writer on The Omid Djalili Show in 2007 and 2007.
Omid’s stand up & acting career
Omid’s career started out in comedy in 1995. He’s had huge success as a comedian, most notably in his series The Omid Djalili Show, but has also ventured into the film and TV world.
The father-of-three has appeared in blockbuster movies such as Gladiator, The Mummy, Notting Hill, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
More recently, Omid has appeared in Netflix series The Letter for the King and BBC’s His Dark Materials.
It looks as though he also has taken up roles behind the camera, too. Omid was the executive producer of We Are Many, a 2015 documentary covering the Iraq war protests.
Speaking to ITV, Omid said people often aren’t aware of all the roles he’s played: “A lot of people don’t know I was in the Oscar-winning film Gladiator… Notting Hill too… Also, a lot of people confuse me for Stavros Flatley. Something I have to deal with almost every week. And that’s not even his real name.”
