New cooking contest Beat the Chef is coming to our screens on Monday, May 27th!

The Channel 4 show will see amateurs go up against four professional chefs with the hopes of taking away a huge jackpot of £10,000.

So before the show kicks off, we thought it best to get to know the chef who will be leading Beat the Chef as its host.

Here is everything you need to know about Andi Oliver, including where you may have seen her before…

Andi Oliver: Bio

55-year-old Andrea, better known as Andi, has been cooking all her life.

She said “I learnt to cook at home, with my mum, auntie and uncles”, who are of Antiguan heritage and Antiguan cuisine inspires her cooking greatly.

Besides opening her own restaurant, Andi has also had an extensive career working as a broadcaster, presenter and even a pop-star!

You may recognise her daughter, Miquita Oliver – who clearly inherited the genes of the latter two skills – as she co-hosted hit Channel 4 series Popworld from 2001 to 2006.

Where is Andi’s restaurant?

Andi currently owns Andi’s Wadadli Kitchen which was in Stoke Newington, North London but is being relocated to a new spot.

Check out some of Andi’s delicious Caribbean food and drool over these snaps until the doors open again!

What else has Andi been in?

If you’re a fan of cookery shows, then no doubt you’ve stumbled across Andi Oliver on your screens before.

Andi has been a judge on the Great British Menu since 2017, but since then has become an integral member of the show.

She also features as a regular panellist on the BBC Radio 4 show, The Kitchen Cabinet.

Andi the pop-star!

It is not just cookery and television presenting where Andi has shone…

When she was just 17-years-old, Andi embarked on a career with the iconic Neneh Cherry in a band called Rip Rig and Panic. Andi’s older brother Sean – who tragically passed away from sickle cell anaemia in 1990 – was also a member of the band.

They were met with some commercial success, however, disbanded in 1983.
