Regular Celebs Go Dating agent Eden Blackman is nowhere to be seen.

The fan favourite quit the popular E4 series at the end of season 4, having featured on the show since it first launched in 2016.

Stepping into his shoes for series 5 is Paul Carrick Brunson, a relationship expert who has been drafted in from the U.S.A.

Can he live up to expectations? Or is love a little different across the pond?

Paul Was Oprah Winfrey’s Matchmaker

Paul’s biggest claim to fame is that he appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Network, co-hosting reality TV documentary Lovetown, U.S.A.

His role was more of a life coach than a matchmaker, however, as he helped not only to set up new romantic relationships but also fix relationships between neighbours and friends.

He Owns a Matchmaking Company

It’s no doubt that Paul knows his ‘friend zone’ from his ‘let’s bump uglies’.

He owns his a matchmaking agency called the PCB Agency. On his website, the relationship expert describes himself as “the world’s most influential matchmaker, founded and exited three businesses, hosts two television shows.”

At least he knows how to blow his own trumpet, then…

Every time I get together with @pattistanger we argue (hit the ➡️ to see) but every time I get together with Patti, I learn 😉. Just interviewed the #millionairematchmaker on how she built one of the most recognized personal brands in the world. 🔥🔥🔥 She dropped several gems, including: 1) The success of your brand is based on the years of experience behind it (she spent decades honing skills before her first TV show). 2) You can’t do it alone. Teams are required to sustain brands. Knowing how to find and keep the right people are critical. 3) Social media is now a requirement in brand building. In addition to your core expertise, you have to become an expert at digital marketing. | Stay tuned for more of Patti’s lessons on building her brand on an upcoming episode (and article) of #UncommonDrive on @usatoday

Paul is Married with Two Children

Paul is a husband and father of two. He married Jill Brunson in 2000 and his two children are called Liam and Kingston.

His family recently moved from the U.S.A to London and look a pretty tight group.

We wouldn’t recommend trying this one at home…

Business Comes First

Despite Paul’s obvious talents as a matchmaker, his roots are tied to business, where he used to be an investment banking analyst.

Impressively, he is a business columnist for USA Today and runs several other projects.

Not to mention his Insta is full of stocks, shares and business-looking pie chart sh*t.

Paul is Jamaican

The new Celebs Go Dating agent shouts out to his Jamaican heritage on Instagram and is very proud of his roots.

His book – It’s Complicated (But It Doesn’t Have to Be) – follows his journey from birth in Jamaica to Northern Virginia, where he built a career as an entrepreneur in a predominantly white and middle-class world.

12:31am – Mountain View Avenue, Kingston Jamaica (considered one of the most dangerous areas in the world). I was told never to drive through, let alone stop. It’s for that reason I had to drive through and stop – that’s how I’ve always lived my life 🙌🏾. When I got out the car, I saw a crew on the corner. Sitting behind the crew, playing dominoes, were two older men, one with flecks of gray in his beard. Given everyone’s deference to him, it was clear he was the OG. I walked right up to him and asked if I could take a photo on the corner. He asked me where I was from? I told him I was born in New York but my family is from Jamaica. He then asked “where in Jamaica?” I ran down the different parishes everyone is from and then ended with, “and my Grandfather was born here, in Kingston.” The OG smiled and said “then this is your home, you’re always good here.” ✊🏾🇯🇲 #respect #roots #truestory
