A competitive series like no other came to Netflix on Friday, July 12th, which sees ten glassblowers compete for a mega prize. Think the art world takes Project Runway or Masterchef!

If you’re familiar with the world of glassblowing, then some of the contestants may look familiar to you. Deborah Czeresko, Alexander Rosenberg and Janusz Poźniak are already respected in their craft.

But there is one cast member who is unfamiliar to viewers and that is the Blown Away host Nick Uhas.

So who is Nick Uhas and what else has he presented?

Meet Nick Uhas…

Nick Uhas is a 34-year-old entreprenuer, producer and YouTube star. He also considers himself a “Science Influencer” because of the content of his YouTube videos.

He was born in Columbus, Ohio but moved to Los Angeles to further his career.

Nick got his start in the media industry after he became a pro stunt rollerblader for Team Rollerblade USA. After being in front of the camera, he wanted to learn more about the behind the scenes. Nick went on to study Video Production at Yale University, whilst also studying Biological Sciences at Ohio State University.

You can find out more about Nick on his website.

Nick the YouTube science star!

The title of “Science Influencer” may sound strange, but considering that Nick makes science videos with over 19 million views, no wonder he pulls some influence.

His channel ‘Nickipedia’ is dedicated to “science, learning, and explaining the world around us”. But don’t think it’s all just standard science, as some of the video titles include ‘Melting GLASS In A Microwave’ and ‘We Made REAL Game Of Thrones Wild Fire’.

And don’t be deceived by the funny content of his videos, as Nick is a legitimate scientist.

After studying with the Anatomical Science department at Ohio State, he became a published chemist in the field of Organic Chemistry. Impressive!

Blown Away isn’t Nick’s first foray in the world of television.

Nick was one of the house guests in Big Brother 15, but he didn’t make it far in the series and placed 15th overall.

But more recently, he made it to America’s Got Talent season 12. In his audition, Nick used his science skills to wow the judges. He got four ‘Yeses’ from the judges but was knocked out in Judges’ Cuts and did not make it through to the Quarterfinals.
