Hit Netflix show Cheer made its debut in January 2020 and two years later, almost to the day, it’s back! The long-awaited Season 2 is officially on Netflix now.

The second season of Cheer has been a smash hit already and fans want to know not only about the cheerleaders, but are also eager get to know the Navarro cheer team coaches.

So let’s get tumbling and find out more about head coach Monica Aldama and her assistant coaches for team Navarro.

Who is head coach Monica Aldama?

Cheer follows two rival teams, Navarro and Trinity Valley Community College as they prep to go head to head in the cheerleading championships.

Monica Aldama is the head coach of team Navarro and has been for many years now. Over the years the 49-year-old has helped her team win countless trophies and championships.

Aldama has helped the team win 14 National Cheer Association Junior College Division National Championships and 5 Daytona Crown Grand National Titles.

Before joining a career in coaching, Aldama got her MBA from the University of Texas.

Who are the assistant coaches for team Navarro?

One of the assistant coaches for team Navarro normally, is ex-cheerleader himself, Andy Cosferent. Unfortunately to fans’ demise, he isn’t back for most of Season 2.

We see him at the start but then he suddenly left the 2021 cheer season and we still aren’t 100 percent sure why.

There is speculation going around that the reason he left is due to other career and business ventures. He said:

It has been so hard not to talk about thisbut here it is. I am so honoured and excited to embark on this new project and venture! We are going to put in all the work and effort necessary in order to make this a ONE OF A KIND EXPERIENCE.

However, the news isn’t all bad! This season we are joined by a new assistant coach and a former team Navarro cheerleader herself, Kailee Peppers.

Before joining the team as a coach, Peppers was one of the most successful cheerleaders at Navarro and was known for winning multiple championships.

Pepper is a three-time Grand National Champion and one-time Grand World Champion. I think it’s safe to say she knows what she is doing!

Who is Trinity Valley Community College’s coach?

Just 37 miles away from team Navarro are rival team TVCC, led by head coach Ventae Johnson. He has been the head coach for the past three cheer seasons and is planning to stay exactly where he is.

Much like Peppers, before his career in coaching, Johnson used to cheer for TVCC himself.

Whilst cheerleading he also competed on Team USA coed and Cheer Athletics Claw6 where he won multiple titles including back-to-back ICU World Championships in 2016,2017, 2018 and 2019.
