Project Runway is set to premiere on Bravo on Thursday (March 14th) at 8 pm.

Returning judge, Nina Garcia, will be joined by two new judges, Elaine Welteroth and Brandon Maxwell.

With Project Runway receiving a whole new makeover it’s only fair to get to know who the new judges are. Meet Project Runway season 17 judges Nina Garcia, Elaine Welteroth and Brandon Maxwell.

Project Runway season 17 judge: Nina Garcia

Nina Garcia, also known as Ninotchka “Nina” García, is almost 54 years old and was born in Barranquilla, Colombia.

She is the current editor-in-chief of Elle magazine and has been a judge on Project Runway since the very first episode in 2004.

Besides her 20 year experience in the magazine industry, she has featured on programmes such as Today, Good Morning America, and The View as a style expert.

Nina has written over ten books, with some selling as New York Times bestsellers.

The 54-year-old won the Oracle Award from Fashion Group International and the Individual Achievement award from the Hispanic Federation in 2010.

In 2015, Nina also won Champion of Educational Excellence Award from the Oliver Scholars Program.

Season 17 Project Runway judge: Elaine Welteroth

Elaine Welteroth is the current editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.

What’s so impressive is that she became not only the youngest but the first African-American to work as Conde Nast editor-in-chief.

Elaine also became the first African-American beauty director in 2012 before moving on to Vogeu, where she established the now highly-credible Teen Vogue.

She has also dabbled in screenwriting as she is a writer for ABC’s hit sitcom Grown-ish.

Project Runway season 17 judge: Brandon Maxwell

Brandon is a 34-year-old from Texas, currently living in New York.

He launched his luxury women’s label in 2015 because he wanted to make women feel beautiful, sophisticated and powerful by creating timeless clothes.

His brand is worn by celebrities and iconic women such as Michelle Obama, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, Lady Gaga, and so many others.

Brandon studied photography at St. Edward’s University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then started assisting stylist Deborah Afshani in 2009 and then Edward Enninful.

In 2008, Brandon was awarded the Woolmark New York Semifinal Prize Award. In 2016 he was awarded the Fashion Group International Rising Star Award for Womenswear and the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear.
