Dragons' Den: Vegan haircare brand secures investment

Vegan haircare brand, Naylah’s Naturals, secured an investment from dragon Sara Davies after appearing on BBC classic, Dragons’ Den.

The black-owned hair-care business was founded by CEO, Kam Davies, and produces natural, vegan products for afro and textured hair.

What do the vegan hair products include?

The all-vegan range includes a Strength And Shine Thickening Shampoo and a Super Botantical’s Restorative Conditioner. Alongside the staples, there is a Retention Leave-In Cream and Super Seed Hair Oil.

Aside from being vegan, cruelty-free and all-around great, the products are also free from parabens and synthetic fragrances. Making them safe to use for sensitive scalps and skin.

Vegan haircare brand is a celebration for black-owned buisnesses

During her pitch, Kam wanted to talk about another issue close to her heart. Kam added that Black entrepreneurs experience lower funding opportunities. This is according to recent research published by the non-profit diversity organization, Extend Ventures.

Kam added that she wanted to use the investment, not only to grow her company but to ‘spark important conversations’ about beauty standards and diversity.

What Nylah’s got to say after Dragon’s Den

In a statement sent to Plant Based News, Nylah said: “By pitching my project to the Den, I was hoping to not just receive the investment. But, create a path for other aspiring entrepreneurs who are from a similar background. “

She continued, “Nylah’s Naturals has always been about authenticity and diversity. And I hope to raise awareness about those groups of entrepreneurs who have been systematically underfunded.”
