Parents Barry and Kim, along with their nine children, are usually seen bonding over music, religion, family life and traditional roles.
While they have been married for over 20 years, their time together has also come with struggles and trauma, such as losing their toddler Josh.
So how did Joshua Plath die? Viewers have raised questions about what happened to the toddler several years ago…
Who was Joshua Plath?
- Kim and Barry’s 17-month-old son
He was the couple’s youngest son and brother to Ethan, Hosanna, Micah, Moriah, Lydia, Isaac, Amber, Cassia, and Mercy.
Joshua was expected to follow strict rules like his siblings, such as never consuming sugary drinks and not using technology.
He died in the autumn of 2008, which his mum Kim previously revealed.

How did Joshua Plath die?
- His mum Kim ran him over
Joshua died as a result of Kim moving trees on their farm with the family’s Suburban vehicle.
She looked for him, saw that he was away from the vehicle, then pulled forward to get the next tree.
However, she had ran Joshua over, who was 1 years old at the time. Barry came home from work, however his son died before his arrival.

Kim opens up about toddler Joshua
Joshua’s mum says she wanted to die at times following his death.
As reported by thelist.com, Kim revealed how Joshua died. She said:
In a panic, I realised what had happened. I ran over our Joshua. Lived the next hour nonstop in my brain for the next months.
Kim said God helped her through the grief of Joshua’s death, as well her husband Barry. She added:
“God has been so faithful to our family for getting us through such a horrific event. He has indeed fully restored our joy. And we are forever grateful.”
