What happened to Duffy?

Duffy had passed away in July 2018 at the age of 28. No cause of death was revealed at that time. However, a local fisherman told an outlet that he “may have been a victim of decompression sickness, also known as ‘the bends.'”

The reality star used to be seen on the show along with Tyler McLaughlin. Together, Tyler and Duffy have shared numerous memories. Duffy reportedly found his love for fishing tuna when he was a child.

“After becoming one of the top sport fishermen in the country, he earned a place on the National Geographic reality show Wicked Tuna for multiple seasons,” the tribute for him read. “Nick also treasured the environment and he took seriously his responsibility to protect it.”

Tribute for Duffy

Wicked Tuna also paid their tribute to Duffy in a post that read, “@NatGeoChannel and @Pilgrim_Studios were saddened to learn that Wicked Tuna cast member Nicholas “Duffy” Fudge passed away this week. Duffy was the first mate on Captain Tyler McLaughlin’s fishing vessel, Pinwheel. We join his family and friends in mourning his untimely loss.”

Meanwhile, Tyler had revealed that his sister would take on the position of the first mate after Duffy passed away. “I’m afraid I might burn out this season, so I’m relying on Marissa to be a solid first mate,” he had said at that time.
