For fans of ITV hit show The Only Way is Essex, Gemma Collins’ calamitous love life is no secret. So, when the 37-year-old signed up for Celebs Go Dating, we could hardly wait.

Episode one of the new series started on E4 last night, with viewers tuning in to see the likes of Ollie Locke, Talia Storm, ‘Muggy’ Mike Thalassitis and of course, Gemma Collins, in dating action.

Known for her fiery personality and alter ego called ‘The GC’, it was going take a a man with seriously broad shoulders to woo Gemma. And we don’t mean that in a literal sense.

In a series of disastrous short dates, Gemma’s participation at the Celebs Go Dating mixer left Twitter in hysterics as she finished the episode with a miserable one match.

A beacon of hope to all dating enthusiasts who don’t believe sitting on your mobile phone and flicking through Instagram is a huge faux pas, Gemma happily twitched her texting fingers until her phone was confiscated by producers.

Like a 12-year-old at a dinner party, the dating coaches were forced to wrestle the phone from Gemma so she could get out there and meet some men.

Let’s just say …. we didn’t crack it off to well …… @celebsgodating 9pm

But, after Gemma she had finally decided to get up and mingle, her next two dates were far from met the ‘cocky and confident’ characters she had envisioned when joining the show.

Guy number one insisted on calling Gemma ‘love’, like over and over again. Seriously, as if Gemma Collins is the type to adore pet names.

Guy number two didn’t exactly sweep in and save the day. In fact, after jumping at the chance to speak to Gemma, he blurted out that he would “love to lose his virginity” to her.

Twitter went into melt down mode, shocked at the so-called pick-up lines Gemma had fell victim too.

At the end of the show and only one guy stepped forward for Gem, a knight in shining armour called Lawrence.

However, as Lawrence was gifted with the chance to have some extended one-one-one time with Gemma, he was quickly shut down by the TOWIE star.

Lawrence was grilled over the wine selection and ordered into submission by Gemma, who told him to ‘be authoritative’.

Twitter was understanding of how Gemma’s brash attempts at dating had scared off potentially love interests. Although, considering this is just episode one of the new Celebs Go Dating series . . . . we have some cracking future TV on our hands.
