American Idol pianist Phredley Brown is part of a huge Grammy winning band
American Idol is back for season 21 along with piano player Phredley Brown, but who is he, and where may music fans recognize the pianist…
American Idol is a reality talent competition where contestants sing their heart out in the hopes of becoming the next big superstar.
Since the first season in 2002, which saw the likes of sensational singer Kelly Clarkson be crowned champion, we have seen many stars populate the music charts. Country legend Carrie Underwood won season 4, and pop icon Jordin Sparks bagged the top prize of season 6 American Idol. Other top artists include Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, Trent Harmon and Just Sam.
In fact, Carrie Underwood has been named as one of the most successful winners of American Idol over the past 20 seasons. Underwood has released six albums, won seven Grammy Awards, nine CMA Awards, 15 ACM Awards and 11 Billboard Music Awards.
But it wasn’t always smooth sailing. Jennifer Hudson – who later went on to appear in Dream Girls opposite Beyoncé – famously tried to get through the competition but was told by Simon Cowell she was ‘out of her depth’. Hudson later established a music and acting career outside the reality show and proved the doubters wrong.
Famous musicians have appeared on the American Idol Judges panel, including Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie alongside host Ryan Seacrest. Original judges on our screens were Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell (the music mogul himself). Guest judges have also graced the panel, with Mariah Carey, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez taking time out to take part.
Who will be crowned as the next American Idol winner?
