Julia Haart is an entrepreneur, fashion designer and author who is also a TV personality and known for her show My Unorthodox Life.
Born in Moscow, Russia in 1971, her family moved to Texas in the United States when she was three years old. They later packed up and went to New York, and her parents became integrated in the large Haredi community and grew more religious. After attending the Bais Yaakov Academy, she became interested in fashion and taught herself how to sew as a teenager.
Aged 18, she changed her first name to Talia and married her first husband a year later. However, in the years that followed she wasn’t happy in the community and didn’t want to pressurize her daughter, Miriam, in to conforming. After leaving, she changed her name to Julia Haart, with her surname deriving from her maiden name Leibov. Lev in Hebrew means ‘heart’.
In 2013, she founded a shoe company with a passion to make products that not only looked good but felt comfortable to wear. Three years later she collaborated with La Perla as well as joining the brand Silvio Scaglia as creative director. She later married the Swiss entrepreneur and billionaire, who had the same name as the brand. They later filed for divorce in 2022.
Julia Haart is also known for her stunning Met Gala dress she designed for model Kendall Jenner. It was made from 85,000 crystals which were all connected on a single string.
In 2019, she became the chief executive officer (CEO) of talent and model company, Elite World Group. In 2022, she was fired by her now ex-husband.
Julia Haart shares four children with her first husband Yosef Hendler – Batsheva, Shlomo, Aron and Miriam.
