Tarek El Moussa bravely fought two types of cancer in 'rollercoaster' year
Tarek El Moussa was diagnosed with more than one type of cancer within the same year. He later said the ’emotional rollercoaster’ had some impact…
Tarek El Moussa rose to reality TV stardom through his hit show, Flip or Flop. Born on August 21, 1981, in Long Beach, California, Tarek began his career in real estate, working as an agent for several years before launching his own company, The El Moussa Group. Looking at his net worth from all these ventures combined, fans can clearly see that flipping houses pays off.
In 2013, Tarek and his then-wife, Christina Anstead (née Haack), were approached by HGTV to host their own show, which eventually became Flip or Flop. The show follows the couple as they buy rundown properties, renovate them, and then try to sell them for a profit. Flip or Flop became an instant hit, with viewers tuning in every week to see the couple’s latest project.
In addition to Flip or Flop, Tarek has also starred on several other reality TV shows, including Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa and Christina on the Coast. His latest reality TV endeavor is The Flipping El Moussas, where he stars alongside his second wife, Heather Rae Young.
The show premieres on HGTV on March 6, 2023, and, rather than following the Flip Or Flop concept, it instead focusses on the houses themselves and on the day-to-day intricacies of running a flipping business. Additionally, fans will get a peek inside the El Moussas’ family life after the birth of their son, Tristan.
Despite his TV success, Tarek has faced a number of health struggles in recent years. In 2013, he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and a few months later learnt he had testicular cancer, too. After extensive treatment, doctors thankfully gave him the all-clear and Tarek is now a vocal advocate of cancer screening, and an inspiration to fans.
