Teen Mom is a popular American reality TV series which was late renamed to Teen Mom OG after the fifth season due to the successful spin-off shows. The MTV series was the first spin-off of the cult classic 16 and Pregnant, which followed the lives of teenagers who were expecting. It follows the lives of young adults who are pregnant or have given birth as they juggle the struggles of being a new parent.
Teen Mom OG (OG stands for Original Girls) focuses on the women as they juggle motherhood with their strained romantic partners or family ties.
First released in 2009, the show came out in two runs, the first between 2009 and 2012 and the second – which consisted of four seasons – began in 2015. Original stars included Farrah Abraham, Catelynn Lowell, Amber Portwood and Maci Bookout.
Several spin-off shows have emerged, including: Teen Mom 2, Teen Mom 3, Young and Pregnant, Young Moms Club, Girls Night In, The Next Chapter, and Family Reunion.
Farrah is one of the most well-known moms, after the father of her child, Sophia Laurent, tragically died in a car accident two months before she was born. She released her memoir, My Teenage Dream Ended in 2012, but she was later axed from the franchise in 2017.
Catelynn, Maci and Amber have appeared in all the seasons, followed by Cheyenne Floyd who featured between 7b and 9b runs. Whereas, Bristol Palin and Mackenzie McKee were less frequently shown in the program, in recent years.
