The news of Kevin Olaeta’s death came as a shock to everyone. The news was announced at the end of the episode that aired in January 2020. Here’s a look at what had happened to him.

Sandra Lee, also known as Dr. Pimple Popper, has dealt with many cases. Among them, some patients tend to have an unexpected journey after their time on the show. One such case was of Kevin, who won everyone’s heart when he first appeared on the show.

What happened to Kevin Olaeta?

Kevin sadly passed away a couple of months after shooting for the show. He died of tachycardia and an enlarged heart and passed away peacefully in his sleep.

TLC decided to pay special tribute to the patient as the end credit read: “In Loving Memory of Kevin Olaeta 1988-2019.” Dr. Lee also remembered her patient as she wrote on Instagram: “RIP Kevin… I found out months after our taping that Kevin had passed away unexpectedly. Love and strength to his family and friends esp his father.”

Kevin’s journey on Dr. Pimple Popper

Dr. Lee became fond of Kevin for his personality. He had come to the show to treat a large cyst on his jawline that had been growing for six years. Kevin often tried to cover the bump with the help of his hair. However, it did not help to improve his confidence.

While on the show, Kevin admitted he had a hard time going on dates he felt embarrassed to start a conversation. Luckily, Dr. Lee managed to remove the big cyst from his face with the help of surgery.

An online obituary revealed that Kevin has passed away on May 19, 2019. The obituary read: “Kevin C. Olaeta, 31, a resident of Petaluma, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Kevin attended Petaluma High and the Musicians Institute of Hollywood, where he learned guitar craft. He had a passion for music and was a great supporter of local bands and concerts at the Phoenix Theater.”

It continued: “He also loved working on his motorcycles and car. Kevin demonstrated great skill working in his father’s electrician business. Clients and friends were drawn to his cheerful, friendly personality. His kindness to all people and animals is a tribute to the beauty of his heart and soul.”
