Full Bloom season 2: Who are the judges? And where is season 1's winner now?

With the start of Full Bloom Season 2 earlier this week, fans are pulling their petals out in the hope to find out more about this year’s judges.

The flower-filled competition sees florists from across America go petal-to-petal, as they attempt to impress judges with their skills.

So far, contestants have created incredible bouquets, such as reimagining iconic Picasso portraits on a much larger scale, all to catch the judges’ eyes.

If you are not already wondering how the winner from Season 1 is doing now, we explored their career now, and introduce you to this year’s judges.

Simon Lycett

Simon Lycett is a world-renowned British flouriest and has been fascinated by flowers since the age of 7. Over the course of his career, he has provided floral decorations for the royal family, the National Gallery, and the Royal Opera House.

As a judge he is really looking for that “wow” factor. It’s no surprise really though as in his own work he “loves the buzz of creating dreams and magical settings within a world where everything’s possible.” He doesn’t believe in the can’t do.

Elizabeth Cronin

Elizabeth is the founder of Asrai Garden, well-known for its stunning floral arrangements.

The garden has been going since 1999 and is still a huge success. Asrai garden now has two locations in the US and even has a jewellery and clothes section.

Maurice Harris

Maurice Harris is also extremely relevant in the industry. He is best known for his visionary behind Bloom & Plume, a bespoke floral design studio located in Echo Park.

Maurice’s clients include some of the biggest names in Hollywood as well as brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Nike, Gucci, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, and, LACMA among others. It’s no wonder he was chosen to be a judge really.

Who was Season 1’s winner, and how did they get into floral arrangement?

The winner of Full Bloom, Season 1 was Conner Nesbit. By chance, he fell into floral arrangement when his boyfriend, now fiance, had a cousin who owned a flower shop and needed a driver. After a while of working there and learning the process of unboxing and cutting, and prepping the flowers, he became “obsessed with learning more.” Eventually, he got a job at the shop in floral arrangements instead.

Unfortunately, though, Conner did not have it easy. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2016, and during his own battle with the disease, he lost his mother to ovarian cancer. He said:

You can’t know light without darkness, and things become more beautiful because you know darkness.

It was during this period in his life where he really became passionate about flowers and their beauty. This continued to where in 2020, he applied for the show “Full Bloom.”

Where is Connor Nesbit now?

Since his win on the show, he seems to be doing very well for himself. He has continued to create amazingly creative floral designs and him and his fiancé are doing well.

Conner said himself that the money “couldn’t have come at a better time.” Just before the show, he has started his own business, Leuca Floral, creating floral arrangements for weddings and other events. He and his fiance had also purchased a home together and were tight on money.

However, the $100,000 prize money allowed them to stay comfortably, whilst turning some of the space from their home into a home shop.
