‘American Idol’ has taken over the country! Every year people eagerly wait for a new season to drop. While some leave a mark on the viewers, others don’t. But how much do the judges get paid on the show?

The latest season of ‘American Idol’ saw people from all over the country come to the show with a dream of their own. Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Ritchie, came back for another season. They managed to make the selection process entertaining and worth the wait.

How much do the judges get paid?

Katy, Lionel, and Luke have managed to impress the viewers with their judging skills. The trio came back again for another season of the show. Katy reportedly earns $25 million per season of the show. “CEO/President Ben Sherwood blew the budget on Katy without thinking how that would impact other areas of the show budget. He gambled on her because of her appeal to a younger audience and huge social-media following. But Katy is effectively taking money from the other judges, who then had to be paid way less,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Luke and Lionel receive around $7 million per season. It is unclear why there is a big difference in their paycheck.

Do contestants on American Idol get paid?

People who come to audition for the show have to take care of their own expenses. The auditions do not cost anything. However, the travel and accommodation expenses will have to be incurred by the candidate during the audition process have to be paid from their own pocket.

However, the show pays for travel and accommodation once you reach the top 24. It is only when the contestants reach the Top 10 that they start getting paid. The contestants receive “$1,571 plus meals for two-hour Idol shows, $1,303 for one-hour shows, and $910 for half-hour results shows,” as reported by Fox Business. This payment is only made once the contestants register in the AFTRA union.
