The heat on season 22 of U.S hit The Bachelor is being seriously ramped up following the hometown dates and some very protective papas.
In episode eight of the show and Arie Luyendyk was invited to experience how his four remaining contestants live, visiting each of their hometowns and greeting their families.
For Arie, who has spent most of his intimate one-on-one dates with each of the female contestants sat in silence and scratching his head, it was never going to end well.
With one of the contestant’s dad making a general threat towards Arie, only a death threat could have made things worse for the poor bachelor.
Yeah, that happened too.
Yikes.
Taxidermy Kendall in Los Angeles
The hometown date with fan favourite taxidermy Kendall plunged straight into the realms of weirdness with beautiful Kendall showing Arie her not so beautiful stuffed rat set.
Yep. This happened.

The pair enjoyed a romantic spot of rat stuffing where they created a mock scene of the two kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Lauren B’s Protective Pops
Poor Arie almost had a mental breakdown when meeting Lauren B’s conservative family.
During long pauses of awkward silence during their dinner and Arie was caught dabbing huge swabs of sweat from his forehead. The Bachelor even admitted:
“On a scale of one to having a complete meltdown, I’m at about an eight.”
Although Arie tried to ward the pushy parents off by telling them that he was “falling in love with Lauren”, Lauren’s mum simply bit back with “are you saying the same things to all these people?”
The mother was perhaps the good cop act however, as pops soon stormed into the conversation to take Arie down a notch.
The dad, a former military pilot, asked if Arie had ever met a military family before, to which the Bachelor could only respond with a whimpering no. He even forgot the ‘no sir’.

Finally, and Lauren B’s dad announced that “he got good vibes from Arie” but if he was wrong then he would “f*cking kill him”.

Arie: “So this one time I casually visited the TROOPS in IRAQ….”

Ditching Tia in Weiner
After heading south to Weiner, in Arkansas, Arie decided to ditch Tia, narrowing his once 25 female contestants to a small love triangle of three.

Perhaps it was the ‘light-hearted’ joke from Tia’s dad that put Arie off.
Father Kenny said: “If you hurt her, I can find you on Google. It would be bad for you.”
Pretty funny dad humour, right . . .
True love in Minneapolis
The best hometown visit – unless you overlook all of the dead rat play that Kendall assembled – was in Minn, Minneapolis, with Becca K.
Becca did have to warn Mr Bachelor about her over protective parents but they had nothing on the might of Tia and Lauren B’s dad.

Becca’s mum didn’t give her blessing over a future engagement but she did say that she would fully support any decision her daughter makes.
