ITV singing competition the X Factor has been on the decline over recent years.
It’s not just the viewing figures that have taken a hit but there has also been a steady decline in the number of Christmas No.1’s released by X Factor winners.
Now, it appears that X Factor 2018 winner Dalton Harris may be awarded less than he bargained for.

Dalton Harris: Record Deal
All X Factor winners receive a groundbreaking record deal. In fact, the majority of finalists do, too.
After singing himself to glory with A Power of Love, Dalton Harris will sign a record deal with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco.
Syco, also known as S Records, has offices in London and Los Angeles with current artists such as Fifth Harmony, Labrinth, Louis Tomlinson, Olly Murs and, now, Dalton Harris.

Dalton Harris: Prize Money
According to the Daily Mirror, X Factor winners get a pot of money to help support and advertise their first album.
Since 2011, the sum is rumoured to be around £150,000.
If the new artists continue to impress, the advance rises to £237,000 for a second album and around £315,000 for a third.

However, it was also believed that the phrase ‘£1 million record deal’ stemmed from Simon Cowell’s extra helpings of cash.
Simon would throw some extra money towards the X Factor winner to help ensure that they take the prestigious U.K Christmas No.1 slot.
But without a festive No.1 in over three years, it looks like that tradition has ended.
Simon Cowell won’t be funding a ‘£1 million record deal’ and X Factor will continue to air at the start of December, as the show passes up on the opportunity to try and claim the U.K Christmas No.1 title.
U.K Christmas Number Ones
That said, Dalton will still be hoping that his cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s The Power of Love can break the Christmas No.1 duck.
Ben Haenow’s release of Something I Need was the last X Factor Christmas No.1 in 2014.
