A formerly married couple applied to be on Channel 4 series First Dates together, as they rocked up to the restaurant side-by-side for moral support.
Geordie’s Mandy and Stuart have been divorced for nine years but that hasn’t stopped the refreshingly honest duo from staying in touch.
Both desperate to explore new love avenues, the pair decided to keep a close eye on one-other as they embarked on individual dates at the First Dates restaurant.
Either way, the whole scenario was hilariously awkward to watch…
Anything goes in the #FirstDates restaurant … anything!

Not Your Average Divorce
The couple had been married for 11 years before their divorce, although their relationship uncommonly blossomed into a close friendship.
Mandy even lets her ‘ex’ know about all the juicy bits from her dating life …
The pair bounced off one-other in the First Dates reception as they laughed and joked, both sincerely hoping that they could find new romantic partners
Mandy said: “He’s found it hard to meet the right person, and I want him to be happy.”
Mandy’s Date Success
Mandy was hopeful of a date with a free spirit and adventurist type, having jokingly slated her ex for watching too much TV.
Cue 48-year-old Adam, whose introduction to camera included “I’ve swum with whale sharks in Panama” and “I climbed to Mount Everest base camp”.
Mother, may I…
Of course, no first date is complete without an introduction to your ex, right?
Mandy complied with the horrendous U.K laws of over politeness, introducing her recently arrived date to ex-husband Stuart, as he was also sat in the same waiting area.
Obviously, Mandy didn’t tell her date that Stuart was her ex, although it was still pretty bizarre to watch unfold.
Mandy continued to fall head over heels for date Adam, as he nonchalantly mentioned “bad boat experiences in Fiji” and “sharks in the Galapagos”.
You know, as if everybody’s life is a scene from Blue Planet.
Mandy went on to explain how “Stuart from the bar” was her ex-husband and that they were “just mates”.
However, from the sweat glistening from Adam’s forehead, he didn’t look overly comfortable with the situation.
Nevertheless, Adam warmed to the situation as the date went on, making some seriously topical jokes along the way.
Seemingly pretty damn cool about the whole ‘ex’ situation, Adam and Mandy fondly agreed to see each other again.
Wonder how Stuart got on…
Stuart’s Date Failure
Stuart was matched with quirky twice-divorcée Claire.
A sucker for the silver fox look, Claire was loving her date with Stuart.
Well, until Stu said the one thing that has never been said on a date before.
How would you react to this…

Claire refused to believe Stu, asking “are you joking?” at least four times.
Stuart explained the unusual situation between him and his ex-wife before continuing to crack jokes throughout the date in attempts to relieve the tension.
No man is funny enough to turn this one around, Stu.
In the final piece to camera, Claire admitted that she didn’t see their relationship going any further, having failed to see a romantic spark.
Could have been something to do with the ex-wife sat across the table…
