Love Island 2017 star Amber Davies is likely to surprise fans during her own spin-off series on ITVBe tonight (Wednesday, February 27th).

While most Love Islanders are known for their distinct lack of talent – such as Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay, whose idea of a spin-off series includes nude lawn bowls – Amber is out to prove otherwise.

The one-off Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5 documentary follows the 22-year-old as she takes a starring role in a Dolly Parton musical, capturing her journey from auditions to launch night.

So… fancy some tickets?

What is the Amber Davies Musical?

The musical that Amber Davies is starring in is called 9 to 5.

It first premiered in Los Angeles in 2008 before opening on Broadway the following year and going on to receive 15 Drama Desk Awards.

Needless to say, it’s not a small production!

The musical touched down in the UK in 2012 during a tour before setting up for yearly shows in 2017.

This 2019 version featuring Amber Davies is currently performed at the Savoy Theatre, London, and is quickly becoming a staple of West End theatre.

What are Critics Saying?

Reviews for the 2019 show have been mixed, with ratings that range from two to five stars.

The Standard have given the show its the lowest critique, citing the musical as “outdated” and a poor representation of “modern female politics”.

That said, the newspaper gives credit to leading trio Caroline Sheen, Amber Davies and Natalie McQueen for attacking the storyline with stellar performances.

TimeOut and The Guardian give far better feedback, describing the production as “slick”, hailing Amber in the process.
