In February, the BBC launched a specific Scottish TV channel which comes with a whole host of its own bespoke drama, arts and entertainment programmes.

Luckily, the brand new channel named BBC Scotland will be available across the UK so English viewers still have a chance to see all of the new shows the channel has in store.

What Makes BBC Scotland different?

The brand new channel has a flagship news programme – The Nine – which reports regional, national and global news from a Scottish perspective.

There is also bespoke Scottish arts coverage, which covers things such as Edinburgh’sworld-renownedd summer festival.

What Programmes Will BBC Scotland show?

The brand new channel is showing half original content and half repeats.

The first original drama on the channel is a four part series called Guilt which tells the story of two brothers who, after covering up an accidental hit and run must face the consequences of the crime.

But if it’s reality TV you’re after BBC Scotland are bringing audiences Getting Hitched Asian Style, a new show which sees a team of wedding planners arranging the biggest and most lavish weddings of the year.

Other shows include a music series – Emeli Sandé’s Street Symphony – which will see the singer travel across Scotland recruiting buskers for a concert with a giant orchestra.

Can I watch BBC Scotland in England?

Yes. The new channel is available via Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media.

BBC Scotland is live every day, with its core hours being 7 pm until midnight.

Between 12 in the afternoon and 7 pm the channel shows BBC2 content.

But don’t worry if you don’t have access to a TV the channel also adds all of its content online via the BBC iPlayer.
