Who is Ruthie Henshall?

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! episode 4 saw the arrival of two new campmates – Ruthie Henshall and Russell Watson.

Ruthie, 53, is a West End star who was born in Bromley, London in 1967. Her full name is Valentine Ruth Henshall.

Her father, David was the editor of East Anglian Daily Times while her mother, Gloria, was a teacher.

Ruthie has two teenage daughters with her ex-husband, Canadian actor, Tim Howar.

Ruthie’s West End career

After training at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, Surrey, Ruthie performed for the first time on stage at the age of 19.

Her first West End show was Cats and following that, Ruthie appeared in Miss Saigon, Children of Eden and Les Misérables.

She’s also appeared in Oliver!, Billy Elliot, Peggy Sue Got Married, Guys and Dolls and Chicago. As well as conquering the stage, Ruthie has appeared on TV shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm and Law and Order.

Ruthie’s West End career has spanned over 30 years and at 51 she was still on stage performing in Chicago as Mama Morton.

As Ruthie explained during a conversation with Shane Richie on I’m A Celeb, she was in an on-off relationship with Prince Edward for five years. Because of the West End star’s success and ties to the Royals, we could assume that she doesn’t do too badly for herself. She remains good friends with Prince Edward and attended his wedding to Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

According to CapitalFM, “Ruthie has a rumoured net worth of £500,000“, she’s also set to earn £75,000 from her appearance on I’m A Celebrity.

As well as appearing on the ITV show, Ruthie also presents Magic FM’s ‘Magic At The Musicals‘.
