Inbetweeners Christmas special: When is it? What is it about?

Everybody is excited about The Inbetweeners Christmas special.

Titled The Inbetweeners: Fwends Reunited, Simon, Will, Jay and Neil will be grouped back together for a one-off special episode on Tuesday, December 1st (New Year’s Day).

But what is the show actually about? Is it a new episode or something totally different?

Inbetweeners Christmas Special

Unfortunately, The Inbetweeners Christmas special is not a new episode.

Fans would have been most looking forward to a reunion episode, where the four lads reunite following a few years apart.

Sadly, this is not the case.

Inbetweeners Reunion

The two-hour show will see the show’s stars – Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas (Will, Jay, Neil and Simon) – reunite to celebrate The Inbetweeners 10th birthday.

This includes guest appearances from other instantly loveable characters such as Will’s mum, with comedian host Jimmy Carr dishing out the awards and banter.

Things will be rounded off with a highlights reel of The Inbetweeners best bits, which is basically what is shown on Channel 4 every year.

Simply put, unless they shockingly announce a new movie or series, The Inbetweeners Christmas special probably isn’t going to be anything special. At all.

Is There a New Inbetweeners Series?

A new The Inbetweeners season looks much more likely than a movie at this stage, although neither have been confirmed.

Joe Thomas, who played Simon, hinted at a potential follow-up series down the line.

He told The Sun in 2017:

I think that we are definitely too old now to do anything that is set in a sixth form. If it’s the case that you want to do a show about some sixth formers then obviously we can’t be involved in that.

But we could do the originals 10 years down the line, married with kids. I mean, we can do that now. I would jump at any chance to work with those guys again — in any context, really.
